At 52 years old, Jennifer Lopez somehow looks younger than she did decades ago — Netflix’s new special “Halftime” is proof of that. While the star hasn’t exactly discovered the fountain of youth, she does have several secrets that keep her looking younger than stars half her age. Luckily, she’s not shy about sharing her tips. Here are all the hacks that keep J.Lo’s stunning body looking flawless.
1. Sleep is #1
The star always gets a minimum of 7-9 hours of sleep every day. As she told InStyle magazine, “I would love to get nine or ten hours of sleep, but either way, I always make sure I get at least eight.”
2. Disciplined workouts
She works out a whopping 4 times a week and has a personal trainer on each coast. Although good genes do contribute to her impressive look, her routine and discipline is what make the difference. From top trainers David Kirsch to LA’s Tracy Anderson, J.Lo likes to switch up her approach frequently when it comes to her body.
Your mom’s probably been telling you this for years, but sun protection is essential when it comes to protecting your skin from signs of aging and distress. Beyond putting on a high SPF, you can also avoid staying out in the sun for too long.
4. The platypus walk
This booty workout move is super effective for sculpting your lower body, and no one knows that better than J.Lo. This low squat technique activates the inner thighs while lifting and toning the butt. You do have to look a little silly walking back and forth in a squat, but the results are well worth it.
5. Spiderman pushups
Although she’s most recognized for her lower body, her arms are also pretty impressive. Spiderman push-ups are a big reason for this. It involves doing pushups on an upside-down Bosu ball, which reduces stability and makes the pushup movement harder.
6. A clean lifestyle
Jennifer Lopez has cut out the caffeine, alcohol, and smoking completely. This is one of the most important anti-aging measures you can take as an adult since all of the above can wreak havoc on your skin.
7. Stay hydrated
For her flawless body and complexion, an important asking is drinking tons of water. J.Lo stresses to Hello magazine that doing this before you start a workout, can help you push yourself harder and get better results out of your routine.
8. She eats her greens
Obviously, this isn’t a woman who eats a lot of junk food. She told Daily Mail that she eats plenty of foods like “, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and kale.” Lopez also loves to cook, which helps her stay healthy.
9. No sleeping in makeup — and luxe skincare
Lopez never goes to sleep without taking off her makeup. In conjunction with night creams and other serums from high-end brands like La Mer and Lancer, J.Lo’s face and body both look like they belong to a 20-year-old.
10. Protein shakes
She is extremely disciplined with what she puts in her body, and one of her favorite ways to get that calorie-smart protein is protein shakes. In an interview, she shared, “That shake at dinner is key, because when you’re dieting it seems like you’re always your hungriest at night.”
11. She never skips a workout
While rest days are important, she told “US Weekly” that she rarely skips her workout but talks herself into it, reminding herself that it’s just an hour. It’s that self-motivation that keeps this queen looking so good.
12. A bonding activity with the kids
She told “Your Fitness” that she likes to relax with her kids after completing a workout. Afterward, she shares a healthy snack with them and provides her body with nutrition while getting in some quality family time.
13. Dancing queen
It’s no secret that Jen loves to dance, and that’s one of the biggest ways she keeps that toned physique and washboard abs. Apart from rehearsing for her routines, she also freestyle dances with Tracy Anderson five times a week and incorporates light weights.
Her chef Kelvin Fernandez will whip up halibut, cod, or sea bass. However, she doesn’t like the texture and taste of salmon, so it’s mostly white fish for Jen. She also loves a veggie-packed salad with ingredients like broccoli and zucchini.
